To carry out tiling installation, repairs, and maintenance across all hotel areas to uphold brand standards, guest safety, and aesthetic quality while minimizing room downtime.
*Key Responsibilities*
*Tiling Installation & Repairs*
– Install wall and floor tiles in guest rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, pool areas, and public spaces
– Remove damaged/broken tiles, prepare surfaces, and re-tile to match existing finishes
– Re-grout, seal, and waterproof showers, baths, balconies, and wet areas
– Cut and fit tiles around fixtures, fittings, and irregular surfaces with minimal wastage
– Repair swimming pool tiles, coping, and mosaics
– *General Maintenance Support*
– Assist other trades with multi-skilled tasks: patch plastering, painting touch-ups, silicone sealing
– Erect scaffolding/ladders safely and comply with working-at-height procedures
– Respond to guest room call-outs for urgent tile hazards that impact safety or room saleability
– Keep work areas clean, protect guest areas, and minimize noise during working hours
– *Stock & Workshop Control*
– Maintain stock of tiles, adhesives, grout, sealants, and tools
– Advise procurement on quantities, shade batches, and lead times for project work
– Care for tools: wet saws, grinders, mixers. Report faults immediately
– Dispose of rubble and hazardous materials per hotel and municipal regulations
– *Technical Skills*
– Accurate measuring, setting out, and cutting with minimal breakage
– Mixing adhesives/grouts to spec and understanding curing times
– Ability to read layout drawings and finish to 5-star/hotel brand standards
– Basic plumbing/building knowledge to coordinate around fixtures
– *Competencies*
– Strong attention to detail and quality of finish – guest-facing work
– Ability to work under pressure with rooms back in service same day
– Good time management and ability to work in occupied hotels with minimal disruption
– Physically fit: lifting, kneeling, working in confined spaces
