Accounting Clerk

Responsibilities: 

• Working with Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance, perform assigned duties in support of finance functions. 

• Duties may include varied finance functions: accounts payable, accounts receivable, reporting, system management, expense reports, and other duties as assigned. 

• Participate in month-end close by posting journal entries, reconciling balance sheets, and other reconciliations as needed. 

• Assist with month end close and balance sheet reconciliations. 

• Assist with audit support. 

• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards. 

• Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level daily. 

• Maintain complete knowledge of accounting systems. 

• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended. 

• Set-up and organize workstation with designated supplies, forms, and resource materials; always maintain cleanliness. 

• Typing accurately, preparing, and maintaining accounting documents and records. 

• Perform any special projects as required by the Director of Finance/Assistant Director of Finance. 

• All other duties as required. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred. Previous accounting experience preferred. Hotel experience a plus. 

• Understanding of accounting principles. 

• Understanding of hotel finance principles. 

• General Skills: Ability to perform simple accounting procedures. Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data. 

• Technical Skills: Good reading & writing skills, strong grammar and spelling, competent keyboard skills, and good communication.
