Job Description

As a Purchasing Manager, you infuse our strategic sourcing endeavors with a heightened sense of ambition, a focus on delivering results, and a genuine passion for optimizing our procurement processes. Your dynamic approach and dedication significantly contribute to the success of our procurement team.

  • Supports the smooth running of the procurement department, exerting diligent financial process control in accordance with company and business procedures.
  • Works proactively with all key stakeholders to maximize guest satisfaction and comfort, ensuring the timely procurement of quality goods and services whilst delivering a positive and responsive approach to enquiries and problem resolution.
  • Develops and implements procurement strategies where objectives are communicated at all levels, performance is measured accurately and reported upon in a timely manner.
  • Manages the life cycle of the team within the department, fostering a culture of growth, development and performance.
  • Responsible for the purchasing budget, ensuring that all purchasing functions and disciplines are controlled, audited and developed.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with all key stakeholders, suppliers and contractors to ensure continuity of supply, competitive pricing and agreed quality standards.
  • Reviews and scrutinizes purchasing performance, supplier performance, objectives and standard purchasing practices, providing recommendations that drive financial performance, operational efficiency and added value.
  • Ensures procurement activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, approved specifications and purchasing procedures, maintaining appropriate documentation, contracts and audit trails.
  • Ensures inventory levels are effectively managed to support operational requirements whilst minimizing excess stock and maintaining agreed lead times for procurement.
  • Maintains awareness of market trends, supplier developments and product innovations to support informed purchasing decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Ensures adherence and compliance to all legislation where due diligence requirements and best practice activities are planned, delivered and documented for internal and external audit, performing follow-up as required.
  • Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time-to-time.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Proven experience in hotel purchasing, with previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Excellent managerial skills with a hands-on approach and lead-by-example work style.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and build positive working relationships.
  • Commitment to exceptional guest service with a passion for the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to find creative solutions, offering advice and recommendations while effectively resolving operational challenges and conflicts.
  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personal integrity, with the ability to work in an environment that demands excellence, time and energy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with experience using hotel systems and purchasing or point-of-sale systems preferred.
  • High school qualification required; a qualification in Hospitality Management, Business or a related field is preferred.
