Mandarin Oriental is expanding its presence in Egypt with the upcoming Mandarin Oriental Shepheard, Cairo, the Group’s first property in Egypt and a landmark luxury hotel development that will bring Mandarin Oriental’s renowned hospitality, wellness, and service excellence to the heart of one of the world’s most vibrant and culturally rich capital cities.
Originally established in 1841, Shepheard Hotel is one of Cairo’s most iconic and historically significant hospitality landmarks. Following a comprehensive restoration and redevelopment, the property will be reintroduced as Mandarin Oriental Shepheard, Cairo, combining the heritage of this celebrated hotel with Mandarin Oriental’s contemporary approach to luxury hospitality.
Situated on the eastern bank of the Nile in Downtown Cairo, the hotel enjoys a premier location within the city’s diplomatic and commercial district and offers convenient access to many of Cairo’s most renowned attractions, including the Egyptian Museum, Khan el-Khalili Souq, Al-Azhar Mosque, Old Cairo, and the Giza Pyramids.
Upon completion, the hotel is expected to feature approximately 276 guestrooms and suites, multiple restaurants and bars, extensive meeting and event facilities, a Spa at Mandarin Oriental, wellness amenities, and luxury guest experiences designed for both international leisure and business travellers. Many guestrooms and suites will offer views of the Nile and Cairo’s skyline, reinforcing the hotel’s position as one of the city’s premier luxury destinations.
