Located in the heart of the Pilbara, ibis Styles Karratha is a 47-room hotel positioned in the centre of town, within walking distance of key business and retail precincts. The hotel offers a bistro with al fresco dining, bar and bottle shop, conference facilities, and an outdoor pool—serving both corporate and leisure guests in a dynamic regional market.

As part of the ibis Styles brand, the hotel reflects a creative, design-led approach to hospitality, delivering warm, welcoming service with personality and flair.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of the kitchen in a standalone regional property, where your impact is visible, valued, and commercially critical. Accommodation is provided as part of the role, and we are open to visa sponsorship for the right candidate.

 

Job Description

 

As Head Chef, you will lead the end-to-end kitchen operation, driving both culinary excellence and commercial performance in a fast-paced regional environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational discipline, team development capability, and the ability to deliver consistent, high-quality food while managing cost, labour, and compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading daily kitchen operations across breakfast, lunch, dinner, and functions
  • Designing and executing menus aligned with brand standards and local market demand
  • Driving food quality, presentation, and consistency across all service periods
  • Managing food cost, wastage, stock control, and supplier relationships
  • Leading, coaching, and developing a small kitchen team in a regional setting
  • Ensuring full compliance with food safety, WHS, and Accor brand standards
  • Collaborating with the General Manager on commercial performance, promotions, and guest experience
  • Supporting conference and group business with tailored catering solutions

This role is ideal for a chef who thrives in autonomy, enjoys building team capability, and understands the commercial realities of a regional hotel operation.
