Job Description

The Assistant Director of Operations supports the Director of Operations in leading day-to-day lodge functions and ensuring the delivery of exceptional guest service across departments. This hands-on role plays a key part in operational execution, people leadership, and upholding brand and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the the Director of Operations to develop and manage the annual operational budget, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Ensures costs across departments are monitored on a monthly basis and KPI’s are achieved.
  • Monitor expenditures, control inventory costs, and negotiate supplier contracts.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to ensure world-class guest experiences.
  • Oversee all departments, including front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, guiding, maintenance, and logistics.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives in line with conservation policies and responsible tourism practices.
  • Set and uphold hospitality standards that deliver personalized and exclusive guest experiences.
  • Oversee VIP guest handling and ensure the highest level of attention to detail in service delivery.
  • Implement guest feedback mechanisms to continuously improve service quality.
  • Work closely with the lodge managers, guides, and activity teams to enhance safari experiences
  • Implement and monitor health, hygiene, and safety protocols for guests and team members.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including medical evacuation procedures.
  • Ensure proper risk assessments and adherence to wildlife safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years leadership experience in luxury hospitality,
  • Proven track record managing high-end safari camps or lodges
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Passion for conservation and sustainability
