Engineering Supervisor

The Engineering Supervisor oversees the maintenance and engineering operations of the property, ensuring all building systems and equipment function safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role leads a team of technicians and tradespeople, manages preventive maintenance schedules, and responds to guest and departmental requests to maintain optimal guest satisfaction and regulatory compliance.

What will I be doing?

The Engineering Supervisor spends time in both office and operational environments. Regular walking and standing are required to conduct inspections and supervise work. On-call availability is necessary to address after-hours emergencies. The role involves exposure to noise, dust, and variable temperatures based on equipment locations. Must be able to work at heights, be on your feet all day and lift heavy loads.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily engineering and maintenance activities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Assign work orders, monitor progress, and verify completion according to quality standards
  • Conduct routine inspections of public areas, guest rooms, back-of-house spaces, and building exteriors
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
  • Respond promptly to guest and staff engineering requests and emergencies, documenting actions taken
  • Coordinate with outside contractors for specialized repairs, renovations, and capital improvement projects
  • Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and equipment history
  • Enforce safety protocols, ensuring team adherence to OSHA, and hotel-specific guidelines
  • Aid in monthly engineering reports, requesting quotes for parts and services, raising purchase orders and scheduling personnel
  • Operate the Building Management System, scheduling and adjusting temperatures.
  • Help train and develop the team, keeping records of progress
  • Replace basic electrical items such as switches and power sockets as needed

What are we looking for?

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or associate’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Knowledge of basic electrical practices required
