Novotel & Ibis Rotorua are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. Nestled on the edge of stunning Lake Rotorua, this is your opportunity to bring fresh creativity and exceptional culinary standards to two of Rotorua’s leading hotels. Some of what you will be doing:

• Supporting Head Chef in Kitchen Operations: Support daily culinary operations across both hotels, ensuring high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
• Team Leadership and Development: Supervise, train, and inspire the kitchen team along side the other Sous Chef’s to maintain a positive, efficient, and professional work environment.
• Food Safety and Compliance: Ensure all kitchen practices meet health, safety, and hygiene regulations, with strict adherence to HACCP standards.

Desired Qualifications:

• Culinary qualification and Food Safety Certification (e.g. NZQA Level 4+, HACCP knowledge preferred).
• 3–5 years’ experience in a kitchen or senior kitchen role, ideally in a hotel or high-volume environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and time management skills.
• Skilled in menu planning, cost control, and team training.
• Passionate, creative, and committed to quality, safety, and cleanliness.
