First Cook

Located in the heart of Canada’s capital next door to the Parliament Buildings, the landmark Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel in Ottawa is looking to fill a role of First Cook (Full-Time) at our Akira Back Restaurant.

Reporting to the Chef of Restaurants or Banquet Chef, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Communicate with external and internal guests alike to plan and execute special requests
• Organize, execute and ensure completion to standard from mise en place to finished products for either BEO or outlet orders
• Ensure quality standards and health and safety standards are met and followed by colleagues as well as all Hotel policies
• Other duties as assigned

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a 2nd cook in all aspects of high volume à la carte and banquet environment
• Experience in fast-paced banquet kitchen and restaurant is required
• Able to work calmly and in high-pressure situations
• Project a positive attitude
