Chief Engineer

Located in the heart of Auckland’s central business district, experience mindful luxury at JW Marriott Auckland. Reporting into the Hotel Manager, the Chief Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Lead and manage all hotel engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of building systems, plant equipment, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and guestroom facilities.
  • Drive preventative maintenance and asset management programs, overseeing inspections, repairs, compliance requirements, capital projects, and long-term asset protection plans.
  • Manage engineering budgets, utilities, and contractor performance, controlling operational costs, energy and water consumption, service agreements, inventory, and project expenditure.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, and regulatory standards, maintaining all licences, certifications, life-safety systems, and environmental practices in line with legislative and Marriott requirements.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire the Engineering team, providing coaching, training, workforce planning, performance management, and fostering a strong culture of teamwork, accountability, and exceptional guest service.

What we are looking for

  • A minimum of 3 years of related work experience
  • International luxury hospitality brand exposure would be preferred
  • A true believer in putting people first philosophy
  • NZ work rights are ideal, if not visa sponsorship can be considered for the right profile
