Job Description

 

This is your opportunity to bring your passion for breakfast cuisine and culinary skills to Brisbane’s premier luxury hotel. Join a team where creativity, precision, and consistency are celebrated, and play a key role in delivering the perfect start to our guests’ day.

As a Breakfast Commis Chef, you will be an essential part of the morning kitchen brigade, working closely with senior chefs to prepare and present high-quality breakfast dishes. You will support kitchen operations under the guidance of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, ensuring each plate reflects the Sofitel brand’s commitment to excellence.

In this role, you will refine your skills in breakfast preparation and service, from classic favourites to French-inspired creations, ensuring every dish is crafted to perfection and delivered on time for our guests’ morning experience.

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of breakfast items according to menu specifications and quality standards
  • Maintain a clean and organised workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Collaborate with the breakfast team to ensure efficient and timely service during peak morning hours
  • Support the Head Chef in implementing new breakfast menu items and presentations
  • Properly store and rotate food items to minimise waste and maintain freshness
  • Assist in inventory management and restocking of breakfast ingredients
  • Participate in daily pre-service briefings and team meetings
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen environment
  • Respond promptly to customer requests and dietary requirements

 

Qualifications

 

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a luxury or five-star environment
  • Trade Qualification in Commercial Cookery
  • Maintain impeccable hygiene and kitchen standards in line with HACCP requirements
  • A genuine passion for working at Sofitel Brisbane Central and a desire to grow professionally within the brand
  • A strong focus on delivering exceptional food quality and guest experiences
  • Enthusiastic, professional, and dedicated to maintaining high standards
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • A friendly, approachable demeanor with impeccable personal presentation.
