About the role:
The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and management of the golf course and related grounds at the Naples Beach Club, a Four Seasons Resort. Ensuring exceptional playing conditions that align with a premium guest experience. This includes all agronomic practices, budgeting, personnel management, and compliance with environmental and safety regulations. The superintendent ensures the course is in excellent playing condition while preserving the long-term health and sustainability of the property.
What you will do:
-Be a part of the pre-opening team of Naples Beach Club, a Four Seasons Resort!
-Plan and implement turfgrass maintenance programs (mowing, irrigation, fertilization, aeration, etc.).
-Monitor and manage soil conditions, pests, diseases, and weather impact.
-Maintain the golf course and practice areas to resort-quality standards, with a focus on visual appeal and playability.
-Plan and implement seasonal course preparations and recovery strategies.
-Supervise pesticide and fertilizer application with adherence to safety standards.
-Hire, train, and supervise grounds crew and assistant superintendents.
-Participate in guest-facing activities (when appropriate) to represent the golf course’s quality and standard.
-Schedule staff and assign daily tasks to ensure course quality and efficiency.
-Promote a safe, productive, and team-oriented work environment.
-Exhibit a leadership style that is firm and goal-oriented, and yet motivates, trains, and enthusiastically engages others is necessary.
-Oversee irrigation system maintenance and scheduling.
-Coordinate the repair and maintenance of all turf equipment.
-Recommend equipment purchases and upgrades as needed.
-Develop and manage the golf course maintenance budget.
-Maintain records for maintenance operations, chemical use, and equipment service.
-Report to management on conditions, project updates, and future plans.
-Plan and execute course renovations, bunker rebuilds, and landscaping enhancements.
-Collaborate with architects, contractors, and vendors, especially during the pre-opening phases of the Golf Course.
-Ensure compliance with environmental, labor, and safety regulations.
What you will bring:
-College degree preferably specializing in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture or related field.
-Minimum of 5 years’ experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role; resort or high-end club experience is required.
-Advanced knowledge of turfgrass science, irrigation systems, and golf course equipment.
-Must have or the ability to obtain a State of Florida Pesticide Applicator License.
-Proven expertise in managing extremely hot-season turfgrasses
-Strong financial acumen with experience managing and operating capital budgets.
-Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
*This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions. Frequent walking, lifting, bending and operating equipment.
*Must be available for early mornings, weekends, holidays and peak resort periods.
