Job Description

Step into a pivotal culinary leadership role as our Banquets Junior Sous Chef, where grand events meet refined execution. At Sofitel, we embody a Passion for Excellence, delivering elevated dining experiences with elegance, precision, and the timeless art of French hospitality. From intimate celebrations to large-scale galas, you will help craft moments that leave a lasting impression.

In this hands-on position, you will oversee the daily operations of the Banquets kitchen, ensuring seamless preparation and execution across all events. With a focus on consistency, quality, and presentation, you will ensure every dish reflects sophistication while meeting and exceeding guest expectations.

Working closely with the Director of Culinary and Senior Chefs, you will assist in menu planning, production preparation, and stock control, ensuring operational readiness for each function. You will confidently lead shifts, execute dishes to specification, and maintain exceptional culinary standards in high-volume, fast-paced environments.

As a leader of Ambassadors, you will set the tone in the kitchen, fostering a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous development. By supporting performance growth, monitoring productivity, and mentoring team members, you will inspire excellence at every level.

Partnering with Food & Beverage leaders and Event teams, you will help deliver flawless event experiences while driving operational success. Qualifications

 

About You

You hold a qualification in Commercial Cookery and bring a genuine passion for gastronomy, paired with a strong understanding of food safety standards and HACCP. You communicate clearly and confidently, always presenting yourself with professionalism and pride as a representative of the Sofitel, and embodying the elegance expected within a luxury hospitality environment.

With proven experience in a five-star or luxury hotel setting, you are confident supervising day-to-day kitchen operations while maintaining exceptional service and presentation standards. You lead by example during service, make sound decisions under pressure, and consistently uphold brand standards, SOPs, and compliance requirements with meticulous attention to detail.

You are a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, with experience coaching, developing, and motivating teams to perform at their best. Highly organised and adaptable, you manage workflows, rostering, and service delivery effectively to meet both business objectives and elevated guest expectations.

Flexible and dependable, you are comfortable working a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays, embracing the dynamic nature of luxury hospitality.

You also hold a full Australian working rights, allowing you to work with us without restriction.
