Maintenance Technician

Job Description

 

Mövenpick Hotel is looking for a Maintenance Technician to assist the hotel team in the day-to-day operation of the maintenance requirements of the hotel.

This diverse role encompasses varying degrees of trade including painting, building maintenance or general handyman duties.

  • Assisting the Chief Engineer to maintain, using safe working practices, the building, plant, equipment, fixtures and fittings to protect the asset and ensure it remains a functional, pleasant and safe environment for all guests, contractors, visitors and other employees.
  • Liaise with the Chief Engineer regarding all work in guest rooms and public areas to ensure out of order areas of the hotel are brought back to use as soon as possible.
  • Complete all tasks where possible within a 15 minutes time frame of receiving the request
  • Report back to the Manager on Duty or Chief Engineer the completion or delay, of any task that is guest related.
  • Suggest any improvements that could be made to improve existing service or procedures, log and inform the Chief Engineer of any service or system problems.

 

Qualifications

 

  • At least 1 year of experience in maintenance or a similar industry; experience in the hotel or tourism industry is preferred but not required.
  • Trade qualifications are preferred but not essential.
  • Working knowledge of building compliance, risk management, and a passion for environmental sustainability.
  • Hands-on approach required—this is not an administrative role
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think effectively, logically, and resourcefully.
  • Demonstrates responsibility, self-motivation, and proactivity, while consistently bringing a positive attitude to the hotel team.
  • Have rights to Work in New Zealand
