Sous Chef – Lebanese Cuisine

 

Job Description

 

We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef specializing in Lebanese cuisine to join our culinary team in Cairo, Egypt. As the Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in creating authentic Lebanese dishes, managing kitchen operations, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation.

  • Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and menu planning
  • Prepare and cook authentic Lebanese dishes, ensuring consistency and quality
  • Develop and implement new recipes and menu items to keep the offerings fresh and exciting
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized kitchen
  • Manage inventory, place orders, and control food costs
  • Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction
  • Step in for the Executive Chef when necessary, demonstrating leadership and decision-making skills

 

Qualifications

 

  • Proven experience (3-5 years minimum) in Lebanese cuisine, preferably in a Sous Chef or similar leadership role
  • Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized institution
  • In-depth knowledge of Lebanese ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques
  • Strong understanding of Middle Eastern culinary traditions
  • Excellent kitchen management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in menu planning, recipe development, and food costing
  • Advanced culinary techniques and knife skills
  • Up-to-date food safety certification
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus
  • Creativity and passion for Lebanese cuisine
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
