On-Call Steward Supervisor

 

About the role:

As a Stewarding Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation across all kitchen and service areas. Your leadership and attention to detail ensure a safe, efficient, and well-organized environment that directly supports smooth kitchen operations and enhances the overall guest experience.

You will guide the stewarding team, enforce hygiene and safety protocols, and coordinate daily cleaning routines to ensure all back-of-house areas meet health and operational standards.

 

What You Will Do:

 

· Supervise and perform all stewarding duties, ensuring standards are met and tasks are completed efficiently.

· Oversee the safe use of cleaning chemicals and enforce proper hygiene practices.

· Assist in training team members and conduct performance reviews to support growth and accountability.

· Ensure opening and closing procedures are followed, and all areas are kept clean, organized, and well-maintained.

· Assist in ensuring all banqueting events are fully set up within the required time frame, and breakdowns are completed promptly after the event.

· Monitor and reduce equipment breakage, ensuring proper handling of all kitchen tools and operating equipment.

·  Manage waste disposal processes and ensure sanitation standards are upheld; report maintenance issues promptly.

·  Support inventory control of cleaning supplies and equipment to minimize waste and loss.

·  Help implement food safety and sanitation standards in accordance with hotel policies and local regulations.

·  Oversee general cleaning duties as assigned by the Executive Steward or Assistant Stewarding Manager.

·  Report any observed maintenance or repair needs to management for timely follow-up.

· Participate in the operating equipment inventory process and assist in managing breakage logs.

 

What you will bring:

  • Proven ability to follow and enforce cleaning, safety, and sanitation procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and a solid work ethic
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative team mindset
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle cleaning equipment and materials
  • A proactive and hands-on approach with a willingness to step in and support the team when needed
  • Basic understanding of inventory management and control of cleaning/operating supplies
