Job Description

 

As a Kitchen Steward, you are the foundation of our culinary operation. You are the start and the finish of every culinary journey – ensuring our kitchens are clean, organised and compliant, so our chefs can perform at their best and our guests can enjoy exceptional dining experiences.

This is a hands-on role where consistency, care and attention to detail matter. You’ll work behind the scenes to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety and hygiene across all kitchen and back-of-house areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wash, clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery and glassware in line with HACCP and food safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchens, stewarding areas, cool rooms and back-of-house spaces.
  • Support chefs by ensuring equipment and work areas are clean, stocked and ready for service.
  • Assist with waste management, recycling and sustainable practices in line with hotel procedures.
  • Follow and uphold all HACCP requirements including cleaning schedules and chemical handling.
  • Identify and report maintenance or safety issues to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with culinary and stewarding teams to support smooth service flow.

 

Qualifications

 

What you will bring to the role

  • A strong understanding of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP knowledge highly regarded).
  • A reliable, hands-on approach with pride in maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to support the wider culinary team.
  • Physical capability to perform manual tasks safely.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
