We’re seeking a General Manager to lead InterContinental Sofia, our flagship luxury hotel in the heart of Bulgaria’s capital.

Nestled in the heart of Sofia, overlooking Narodno Sabranie Square and the iconic Alexandar Nevski Cathedral, InterContinental Sofia is a beacon of refined elegance with unparalleled access to the city’s culture, commerce and government district. We’re looking for a proactive, commercially driven leader to build on eight years of strong hotel performance, deepen the hotel’s luxury positioning, and be a visible, active presence in the city and the wider market.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the commercial and operational activities of the hotel, delivering a business plan that drives strong owner returns.
• Be a visible ambassador for the hotel — building and maintaining relationships with government officials, business leaders, travel industry contacts and the local community.
• Recruit, lead, develop and retain a high-performing team, energising and challenging an experienced, long-tenured leadership team to keep pace with a changing market.
• Drive continued growth of higher-rated luxury and international demand, repositioning Sofia as a credible luxury destination.
• Improve F&B profitability and performance across the hotel’s outlets in an increasingly competitive dining market.
• Review and implement strategic commercial initiatives across the hotel and its facilities.
• Manage a close and collaborative owner relationship, balancing investment ambitions with commercial delivery.

On a daily basis you’ll shape the direction of a market-leading luxury hotel, working with an experienced team and an engaged ownership group to elevate Sofia’s standing as a genuine luxury destination.

What we’re looking for

• Substantial prior upper luxury hotel general management experience, ideally within city hotel properties.
• Proven success in driving commercial returns and revenue growth.
• Experience in luxury market positioning and repositioning.
• A strong commercial F&B background, with a track record of improving profitability.
• Genuine team development, guest and owner focus.
• A solution-focused, adaptable approach — comfortable flexing style to fit owner, culture and operating environment.
• Fluent English essential
