AV Technician

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support guests, particularly those involved in coordinating meetings and conferences, ensuring all their audio-visual and IT needs are met to their full satisfaction.
  2. Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of standard IT equipment and their integration, including PCs, laser projectors, audio speakers, TVs, DVD players, and CD-ROM players.
  3. Stay abreast of current hardware, operating systems, application software, and supporting tools available in the market.
  4. Set up, operate, and troubleshoot audio-visual equipment for various events, including conferences, presentations, and meetings.
  5. Conduct regular maintenance and testing of AV equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  6. Provide technical support and training to staff and guests on the use of AV equipment and software.
  7. Collaborate with the IT department to ensure seamless integration of AV systems with the hotel’s network infrastructure.
  8. Manage inventory of AV equipment, including tracking usage, scheduling maintenance, and recommending new purchases when necessary.
  9. Create and maintain documentation for AV systems, including user manuals and troubleshooting guides.
  10. Assist in the planning and execution of AV upgrades and installations throughout the hotel.
  11. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations when handling and operating AV equipment.
  12. Provide on-call support for urgent AV issues during events or conferences.
  13. Liaise with external vendors and service providers for equipment repairs, rentals, or specialised technical support when required.
  14. Contribute to the continuous improvement of AV services by gathering feedback from guests and staff and implementing enhancements accordingly.
  15. Maintain a clean and organised work environment, ensuring all equipment is properly stored and secured when not in use.

Qualifications

  • Must have the appropriate documented training from a technical/vocational institute.
  • One year operating experience in a hotel engineering department.
  • Good knowledge in IT and Audio Visual.

 

Additional Information

Full Grade 12 Certificate

Three Traceable references with mobile numbers and email addresses.

ZAQA verification of all qualifications is required
