Commis 1 – Chinese

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Commis 1 Chinese to join our culinary team in Kochi, India. In this entry-level chef position, you will work under the guidance of senior chefs to prepare and cook authentic Chinese cuisine while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and kitchen efficiency. • Prepare and cook Chinese dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
• Assist in mise en place (preparation of ingredients) for daily service
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain proper equipment care
• Follow food safety and hygiene protocols consistently throughout all kitchen operations
• Collaborate effectively with kitchen team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely service
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation and contribute to overall kitchen cleanliness
• Receive feedback from senior chefs and continuously improve cooking techniques
• Support inventory management by reporting on ingredient usage and stock levels
• Assist with basic food costing and portion control measures
• Adapt to changing kitchen demands and support team members as needed

• Proficiency in fundamental Chinese cooking techniques and methods
• Strong knife skills and food preparation abilities
• Knowledge of Chinese ingredients, flavor profiles, and traditional cooking practices
• Solid understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively within a kitchen brigade
• Basic proficiency in English communication
• Experience with wok cooking (preferred)
