About the location:

Four Seasons Hotel Seoul is located in the heart of Seoul, offering world-class customized services and sophisticated features based on its craft and expertise. The Hotel, standing tall with 29 glittering stories, is meant to look like an ancient Korean palace of old, but stylized and brought into the 21st century. Classic Korean nature motifs and modern aesthetics adorn the décor, reflecting the surrounding mountain backdrop and views of Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung Palaces. The Hotel features 8 distinct restaurants and bars, including award-winning Yu Yuan and the secret speakeasy Charles H., ranked as the Best Bar in Korea and one of the Asia’s 50 Best Bars. The rest of the hotel is equally stunning with the works of over 130 Korean artists featured throughout the establishment. From contemporary art and pottery pieces in the rooms and halls to the intricate three-dimensional Korean ship created out of hundreds of ivory-colored buttons by Ran Hwang, Four Seasons Hotel Seoul has held the top spot as Seoul’s leading luxury hotel and rightfully so.

About the role

The Director of People and Culture forms part of the Hotel Leadership team who collectively make key strategic and operational decisions for the Hotel or Resort.  The Director will oversee all aspects of the People and Culture division, including benefits administration, employee relations, recruitment and retention of staff, communication to staff, career development of staff, wage & hour compliance, training, workers compensation and legal matters related to hotel employees.

 

What you bring:

  • College education or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years of work experiences as Director of People & Culture within the hospitality industry or similar, with extensive professional experience in Korea.
  • Previous Experience in a Director of People & Culture role required, preferably within a hospitality environment
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, conflict-resolution and strategic-thinking skills
  • Solid experience in People Leadership and Strategy, Employee Relations and Engagement, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, and Total Rewards
  • Excellent emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in Korean and English, both written and spoken
  • Requires working technical knowledge of Labor laws
  • Requires knowledge of the ability to operate computer equipment

 

What you will do:

  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the People and Culture division including benefits administration, employee relations, recruitment and retention of staff, communication to staff, career development of staff, wage & hour compliance, learning and development, workers’ compensation and legal matters related to hotel employees.
  • Monitor the quality of staff performance including review of disciplinary actions, recommendations for suspension or termination as well as establish a regular performance appraisal program for all staff.
  • Influence the quality, content and intent of communications in the hotel and recommend the most effective vehicle of communication and the best channel to use in terms of ensuring that pertinent information is available to all levels of staff.
