Events Trainee

Banquet & Events Intern

The Banquet & Events Intern acts as the key link between meeting planners and all operational departments, ensuring seamless event execution and exceptional guest service. This role supports the full planning and on-site delivery of events, proactively anticipates client needs, and consistently upholds Sheraton’s service standards & programs. In addition, the intern contributes to the property’s commercial success by identifying opportunities to elevate experiences, enhance revenue, and strengthen client relationships by phone, in person or in writing.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist event hosts and coordinators before functions; confirm details and review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and ensure accurate execution.
  • Support event setup, buffets, action stations, and special requests with a keen eye for presentation and upselling opportunities.
  • Deliver professional, attentive guest service; actively anticipate guest needs and highlight enhancements or add-ons when appropriate.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with guests, colleagues, and supervisors, support phone handling and internal communication.
  • Help ensure events meet service, quality, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments (Sales, Kitchen, Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering) to resolve issues promptly and support smooth operations.
  • Report maintenance needs and follow all safety, security, and company procedures.
  • Build positive client interactions, observe guest preferences, and share potential sales leads or future business opportunities with the Events & Sales teams.

  • Ability to follow instructions, multitask, and adapt during busy events.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
