In this role as the Steward/Dishwasher you will be responsible for transporting and cleaning cooking utensils and service ware in the hotel’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service. Operates dishwasher to properly cleans all dishes and cooking utensils used in the kitchens, restaurants and banquets. Scrubs pots.  Re-stocks all supplies in the assigned areas. General kitchen cleaning duties including the cleaning and mopping of kitchen floors and trash removal.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of (1) year of fast pace working environment experience.  One year of previous kitchen experience is preferred. Hospitality experience is also preferred. The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate in English in order to read labels and put food and dry goods in the proper place and communicate with other team members. Good working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation. Knowledge of operating a dishwasher. Ability to work in confined spaces. Ability to perform duties within different temperature ranges. Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays. Possesses sense of urgency and is detail oriented. Ability to stand, sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to stand 8 hours with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to bend, stoop, walk and lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. Must have good close vision and basic mathematic skills.

What will I be doing?

  • Washes dishes, flatware and glasses and other cooking utensils
  • Picks up dirty equipment from the preparation areas, cold and hot line
  • Clean all kitchen equipment that includes but may not be limited to pots, pans, sheet trays, fryers, flattops, hoods, filters, mixing bowls, among others
  • Store clean equipment such as glass, plates, flatware, pots and pans in proper/designated locations
  • Sweep and mop all kitchen and back of the house areas
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area by performing general cleaning in order to stay in compliance with the Health department
  • Removes the trash from all containers, taking it to the dumpster located on the loading dock
