Food & Beverage Duty Manager

Situated in the heart of the Brisbane CBD, with views out over the river to Southbank, the ibis Styles Brisbane is a modern, stylish hotel catering for both business and leisure guests. With 367 rooms, ibis Styles Brisbane is one of the largest hotels in Brisbane City. We are bright, colourful, stylish and are looking for our next Full-Time Food and Beverage Duty Manager to lead our F&B team.

 

Job Description

 

In this unique role you’ll get an opportunity to practise and enhance your people leadership skills, and grow your operational management skills. This role reports to the Operations Manager of the hotel and takes ownership over The Social, our in house restaurant and collaborates closely with the Sales and Marketing and Kitchen teams to ensure our functions and conferences are a wonderful experience.

The key responsibilities in this role are unique to this hotel and include:

  • Rostering to ensure coverage is maintained at all time – this includes supporting the team to find coverage during times of illness
  • Being an integral part of service – there are times when you will be the only person on shift and it’s a requirement that you are a ‘hands-on’ professional.
  • Ownership of guest experience in the restaurant
  • Ordering and Stock Control – You will have responsibility of all ordering and inventory for the restaurant and liaising with the Executive Chef and Sales and Marketing for conferences and events
  • Reporting responsibilities – this includes daily, weekly, and monthly reporting requirements
  • Ensuring the team are trained as F&B superstars and are also growing and learning new skills for their own development
  • Recruitment for the team as required with the assistance of the Talent and Culture Manager

 

Qualifications

 

Key Qualifications:

This is a unique role and due to our hotel size and branding, we have the opportunity to create a role that works for this individual space. As such, we feel this role will be suitable for an experienced supervisor looking for their next career step in a hotel environment. We welcome those from within the hotel industry as well as those outside it who can bring new and innovative ideas to the team. 

Given this, we do have a few ‘must have’ requirements that are listed below: 

  • Previous supervisory experience is a must
  • We are keen to help someone learn and develop their career throughout the food and beverage space
  • A passion to create a strong team that provides exceptional service
  • Willingness to uncover new ways of working and innovative ideas
  • Great stakeholder management and the desire to collaborate with both the Kitchen and Sales and Marketing to uncover excellence.
  • Flexibility to work across weekends and public holidays. You will be required to work your share of weekends and it’s all hands on deck when the hotel is full!
