Director of Sales

Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Tanis Hospitality Management, LLC. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc.  The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment.  If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.

 

Director of Sales

Take the lead in a dynamic role where you will drive revenue growth, foster client partnerships, and lead a high-performing sales team within a recognized global hospitality brand. As the Director of Sales, you will be instrumental in shaping the hotel’s strategic direction, cultivating new business opportunities, and delivering exceptional service experiences. This position is ideal for a results-oriented leader with a passion for hospitality and a proven ability to build and guide successful sales teams.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of hotel sales experience, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Proven success in meeting or exceeding revenue goals and managing sales pipelines.
Experience with group sales, corporate accounts.

Strong leadership and team development skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Proficiency in sales systems.
Solid understanding of revenue management and pricing strategies.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to analyze data, interpret trends, and develop actionable sales strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy to maximize revenue and market share.
Conduct proactive sales efforts, including prospecting, cold calling, networking, direct client engagement, and e-marketing campaigns.
Monitor and maintain the Sales Action Calendar on a daily basis.
Establish and manage the department’s budget, ensuring alignment with revenue and profitability goals.
Meet or exceed targeted sales and profitability metrics through consistent performance and innovative outreach.
Generate new leads and business opportunities through direct outreach and creative proposal development.
Foster strong relationships with clients, community partners, lead sources, and competitive properties.
Supervise and develop the Group Sales Coordinator, providing guidance and performance feedback.
Analyze market trends, performance metrics, and forecast accuracy through regular reporting and review.
Represent the hotel at networking events, industry functions.
Work closely with Revenue Management to implement and evaluate pricing strategies weekly.
Respond to RFPs and group inquiries, negotiating rates, and managing blocks.
Ensure accurate execution of Direct Bill procedures and maintain up-to-date accounts receivable.
Collaborate with the General Manager, Revenue/Regional Manager on business strategies.
Draft and customize contract clauses, waivers, and sales agreements.
Conduct detailed site inspections and consultations for prospective clients.
Attend and contribute to departmental and leadership meetings.
Create and update rate codes and cluster codes for new accounts.
Maintain an up-to-date Sales Account List and Local Corporate Rate Sheet.
Perform additional duties as required to support hotel sales initiatives.

The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 annually.
